The C# for Windows Phone 7 Foundation course encompasses the use of the Visual Studio
2010 environment to develop mobile application software for the Windows Phone 7 platform
using the Visual C# language. The course starts with an overview of the dotNET platform,
an exploration of the Visual Studio IDE (Integrated Development Environment), Expression
Blend and Silverlight Tools, and an introduction to the Windows Phone 7 Emulator.
We look at how to structure solutions and projects, the types of project templates
available and the role of the various files that comprise our solution.
Following this, we cover the language features that are needed in order to create
full featured Phone applications that make best use of the .NET platform. Delegates
learn about data types, variables, and operators, along with the important flow control
structures. Delegates work through several practical examples which which reinforce
the theory and demonstrate the power of the .NET Framework. Other topics covered
include object-orientation and creating classes and objects, working with data structures,
such as arrays and collection classes, generics, handling exceptions and working
with delegates and events.
This is primarily a C# training course set in the context of Windows Phone development
- thus we tend to focus on a different set of issues than does our other C# Foundation
course. Here we do focus upon the specific aspects of the Windows Phone 7 architecture
and language features that are particularly relevant to the characteristics of mobile
development. On completion of this course, attendees will understand the important
basic concepts that enable the creation of professional applications using a variety
of .NET technologies and be able to address the particular features and needs of
This C# for Windows Phone 7 Foundation training course assumes that students have
some programming background. No specific
experience with Visual Studio, the .NET Framework, object-oriented programming or
C# is assumed. The course is not recommended for individuals with previous C# experience
as considerable focus is upon basic language features.
Who Should Attend
This course is directed at individuals with some previous exposure to programming,
possibly in a non-object-oriented paradigm, who wish to master both the Visual Studio
environment and a Visual, object-oriented, style of development using the C# (C Sharp)
language. Particularly suitable for career-break re-entrants to the profession and
to developers wishing to cross-train from other languages.
For experienced C# programmers who wish to acquire Windows Phone development skills,
we are developing a more advanced and specific course, details will be available
